Bibi was an exceptional advisor. Despite starting the college admissions process relatively late, Bibi graciously took me on and helped me to expertly navigate the process. Her insights, attention to detail, and lightning-quick response times were always greatly appreciated. With Bibi’s expertise, I was able to successfully navigate the college admissions process culminating in two Ivy League acceptances. I am forever grateful.

I’ve had the immense privilege of being guided by Bibi for the past 5 years as I’ve prepared for post-secondary education and searched for my perfect fit universities in the US and the UK. Her influence on my overall profile, my applications and my ultimate success is immeasurable. For starters, her recommendations for top-quality tutors significantly enhanced my academic abilities in a variety of fields. Also, Bibi consistently goes above and beyond, advising her students not only on university choices and strategies for applications and essays but also on course selection, unique summer programs, leadership position applications, networking with her plethora of contacts, and more. Her comprehensive guidance and insight made all the difference in the outcome of my university applications and admissions. In addition to helping me secure a substantial merit award at a top US institution, Bibi was instrumental in my admission to direct-entry medicine at Oxford (as one of 8 international applicants admitted this year) as well as in my ultimate decision to pursue that path. Bibi has remained dedicated to my success throughout this entire process. I am immensely grateful for her unwavering support and highly recommend her services to anyone seeking unparalleled guidance in the university admissions process.

Thank you for how supportive and helpful you were in every step of my university application process. From course selection, editing essays, and choosing which universities to apply to, your guidance and expertise proved to be invaluable. But beyond all of the academic help, I want to thank you for the emotional support you gave me through the stressful times in high school. To quote from one of my favourite books, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, “All human wisdom is contained in these two words – Wait and Hope”. You taught me how to hope and see light at the end of the tunnel. Now I’m both excited but nervous to be heading to New York. Thank you for everything and I hope we can keep in touch!

It goes without saying that I could not have done this without you and I am very grateful for all your support and advice. As far as I’m concerned, you’re the best university counsellor out there! From start to finish, I genuinely enjoyed the process. I will always look back on it and fondly remember what a great time I had choosing my universities, writing my essays and editing them with you, and submitting my applications on Christmas Eve. Even the writer’s block, the frustration, and the doubt I felt are all part of what made this so memorable. You’ll be happy to know that, following your advice, I chose to do a gap year in Europe. The endless possibilities and adventures for this coming year are thrilling to think about. I’m glad I didn’t pass up on this opportunity! I want to say THANK YOU so much for the online Peer-to-Peer Student Panel you held for your students and families a few weeks ago, especially in this strange time when school is out due to the Coronavirus. I was very impressed with how well the event was organized and how focused your students are on learning. The event was a light in the darkness. All the experience that you, Frazer and the ten students shared with (our daughter) and other students was first-hand and invaluable. It lit up (her) road and showed her how to start approaching her dreams. After this event, she was more motivated to manage her time wisely. I was surprised that (she) did some research on her own. The excellent students in your Peer-to-Peer event inspired her. Please keep her posted with any further learning opportunities. She has the willingness to become as extraordinary as the rest of your students, and we are very lucky that we found you!

Our family wants to take this moment to thank you for all the support and guidance you have provided to our son over the past couple of years. Frazer and Bibi were introduced to me at a most stressful time of my life where I neither had a clear vision of where I would end up for university nor even knew whether I had the ability to achieve my dreams. However, with the tutoring provided by Frazer and a grounding in his unique strategies, I was able to gain a good ACT score. That, combined with Bibi’s guidance and her advice on my essays, enabled me to get into my university of #1 choice in the early round. I was very happy to attend the wonderful presentation you and Frazer had for parents. Firstly, I liked the passion you both demonstrated talking about the steps to take for our adolescents to reach their goals. I always read your newsletters but to hear you talk about it all adds another dimension. Secondly, I think having a PowerPoint presentation was very beneficial. We were able to take notes and photos. I liked the topics, the diagrams and the bullet points; the material was all very clear. Lastly, to open your beautiful home to us parents was not only heart-warming but welcoming us with tea, coffee, madeleines, and shortbreads was above our expectations. Thank you for caring so much!

Working with Bibi long distance, via video-conferencing, was extremely convenient despite the different time zones. Bibi does a great job with making herself accessible for questions, sharing practical material, and providing detailed guidance. With essays, she went through the entire process with me, from brainstorming strategic ideas to suggestions for cutting down the word count. She provided guidance with all aspects of the process including interview preparation and making sure that I was running on a good timeline to finish essays and arrange for recommendations in time while allowing me flexibility to determine my own pace and schedule. Overall, our collaboration was an enriching experience with excellent results!

I met Bibi in Grade 11 as a student with vague aspirations for US university admission. She assessed my situation, outlined preparation plans and continually guided me through the difficulties and pressures that came with starting university preparation late, helping me select schools that suited me best. Under her watchful guidance and encouragement, I was able to plow though the numerous application essays that I otherwise would have been overwhelmed by. Not only has Bibi greatly improved my organizational skills and sparked my love of writing, but she has played an invaluable role in my maturity. Today, I can excitedly say that I’m ready to go to Vanderbilt where I know I will thrive academically and in terms of my extracurricular passions. Thank you so much Bibi!

Prior to meeting Bibi in grade 9, I only dreamed of being accepted to a selective US university. Now that I am Brown-bound, I know that my dream of attending an Ivy League institution turned into reality due to Bibi’s professional guidance. In the 4 years I worked with her, she answered my many questions, patiently listened to me and steered me with excellent advice to turn my interests into productive activities. She supported and so expertly guided me through the ups and downs of the application process that I was left with many enviable choices senior year (Brown, Duke, UChicago, Pomona, Yale-NUS, Johns Hopkins, to mention a few). I owe my success to Bibi and cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for me. She treats each student with respect and true care. Her approach is customized to each student’s needs. I can’t find words to express my gratitude to Bibi.

Prior to meeting Bibi for the first time in the spring of grade 11, I was lost amidst the daunting university application process. For someone who had sights on the most competitive American institutions, I was utterly disorganized and late to start the process. Under Bibi’s skillful guidance, however, I eventually gained acceptance to one of the most selective programs in the country. My first meeting with Bibi was a real wakeup call. Immediately, she made the expectations very clear. Not only did I become aware of exactly what I had to do, I was also given invaluable advice from Bibi’s extensive reservoir of knowledge and experience. But above everything else, Bibi’s greatest gift lies in her ability to connect with her students. Throughout the process, Bibi really took the time and effort to get to know me as a person, thus when it came to application essays, her suggestions made a a tremendous difference. Bibi made my college admissions experience manageable and even enjoyable. Thank you for all your help Bibi!

Bibi, I wanted to thank you – for your long-distance guidance and support, for all the tips and strategies (including the switch in test prep strategy), for all the editing (even where sentences were terrifyingly long and colons abundant), and for always answering e-mails promptly (i.e. being there for me!) whenever I needed help. I am extremely happy with where I will be going (NYC!). The program and all the opportunities Columbia provides are awesome. Plus, I can continue studying humanities together with engineering, which has always been a dream of mine.

Bibi, I am so glad that my daughter and I were able to come to your Peer to Peer Open House last Saturday. We had no idea what to expect, and we were blown away by the amount of information that we were given in such a short period of time. What we found to be so refreshing at your event was the candor and the ability to hear the voices of students who are in the same boat as my grade 10 daughter: high school kids who are applying, others who have just received acceptance letters, and even a freshman at university who opened up about his journey from here to Stanford. For the first time, I think that my daughter was truly able to get a grasp of the harsh reality of the hard work that one needs to put into the college admissions process, while understanding that it can be an exciting time too. It was motivating and informative, and we particularly enjoyed listening to the 12th graders’ words of advice along with tidbits of their amazing essays. Thank you so much for gathering so many bright minds together in one room for an afternoon of networking, learning and inspiration.

Initially, the thought of wading through the murky waters of the college admissions process with twins, was overwhelming. My boys were interested in very different things. How was I going to get through it? Bibi, you saved us. With your wealth of knowledge and connections, your incredible organizational skills and sound advice, your amazing test preparation referrals , your thoughtful feedback and assistance with essay writing, your strong ability to draw out and highlight each boy’s strengths and interests, you made it all smooth sailing. From the beginning, coming up with our original list of colleges to consider, you listened carefully to my boys and what was important to us individually and as a family. You gently guided our sons to where they would have the opportunity to reach their true potential. I can’t thank you enough for making this year memorable, in the most positive sense. I couldn’t have asked for a more capable guide. Words do not exist for expressing my gratitude for getting my twins through this process within the early admission round. Any student and family who has the chance to work with you is truly fortunate. See you at graduation!

Dear Bibi – I am happy to inform you that I received my letter of early acceptance from Penn a few hours ago. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you a great deal for all that you have done for me, including encouraging me to apply in the early round, editing my Common Application and essays, help with the teacher recommendation cover letters, and recommending the SAT tutor which helped me gain the extra points I needed on the writing section. This is all I had hoped for since the beginning of my high school career. I am more than happy. 🙂 December 2013
May 2015: “Once again, you have done magic for me. On very short notice, you reviewed my essay for transfer into Penn’s Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology. You gave me many, many pointers and insights on my personal statement. As a result, I was able to portray myself fully, honestly, and to the best of my ability and gain admission to this highly competitive program. For this, I will always be grateful.”

Bibi was instrumental in allowing me to understand what it takes to put together a highly competitive application to selective US colleges. As someone with no experience of the US system, the advice and guidance I received from Bibi helped me through the complex maze that is the US application process. My first meeting with Bibi was undoubtedly a serious wake-up call of exactly what was expected in the admissions process, but it was one that I needed, and one that allowed me to focus my efforts and maximize my potential for success. Bibi helped me set and strive towards clear and definable goals that ultimately made the whole process that much more manageable. Thank you for all your help Bibi!

Thank you for taking so much time to help me with the application process to a number of very selective graduate programs in the United States. I sincerely appreciate the care you took in reviewing my academic goals and research projects, recommending strategies for writing my proposal and completing the applications. Finally, thank you for revising my work, the scholarship applications, and financial aid forms. Your advice was very helpful and gave me a new perspective on available opportunities. Dear Bibi – You were with me every step of the way from the time I arrived in Canada with no clue as to what a science project entailed, to providing guidance with extracurricular activities, as well as to sending me off to competitions and summer programs in science which both strengthened my English and communication skills, giving me a boost in my scientific competency and confidence. Finally, your guidance during the college application process, including ACT prep, drawing up a list of colleges to apply to, editing my essays, and helping me decide between my acceptances was invaluable. My first 6 months at Whitman as a pre-med candidate, have been absolutely superb in all aspects; I could not have asked for more. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Applying to US schools as an international student can be quite tricky. It is harder to be accepted to schools due to lower acceptance rates, fewer qualified tutors for SATs and ACTs, and less guidance during the entire process. That is why I am thankful that I worked with Bibi in my final year of high school. The SAT boot camp that Bibi coordinates was extremely helpful, and I scored much higher on my next SAT because of it. After listening to me say what I was looking for in a university (although I wasn’t exactly sure), Bibi encouraged me to apply to schools that I had never considered. Furthermore, she made me excited to apply to myriad schools and made me more confident in what I wanted from my undergraduate years. She gave valuable information, edited essays with expertise and was willing to answer my last-minute questions. When I received offers (from University of Chicago, Duke University, University of Pennsylvania, Middlebury College, Pomona College, and a few others), Bibi gave invaluable advice on choosing the best school for me. I am now at Penn and I couldn’t be happier. I was accepted into the Integrated Studies Program, a highly selective residential program which epitomizes a liberal arts education. I thank Bibi for providing me with incredible opportunities for the next four years.

As an applicant to many selective universities in the US, I faced various challenges in the past year. Choosing my top-choice schools, preparing my applications in a way that would reveal my character, and following the strict, college-specific requirements and deadlines were among the difficulties along the way. Bibi has been a great support throughout this tough admissions process, allowing me to overcome all challenges and even enjoy what would have been a stressful ordeal. Bibi was always there for me (including throughout the Christmas holiday and New Year’s Day), ready to give advice – in person, on the phone, through email, and anything you can possibly think of!
In the end, I gained admission to Princeton University, an amazing school in which I am happy to spend my next four years, while receiving excellent financial aid. In addition to Princeton, I was accepted to Stanford University, Columbia University (as a top C. Prescott Davis Scholar), Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, as well as Johns Hopkins University and Duke University. Even after I had received my decisions, Bibi helped me choose the university that was best for me by advising me to compare various aspects of each university, such as the academics, the amount of financial aid offered at each, and the location. And now, I’m really happy with my decision to be at Princeton! Thanks, Bibi

We were happy to have Select College Admissions “in our corner” when we set out to help our daughter Rachel navigate the complex and unfamiliar US college admissions process. Bibi’s depth of knowledge in this field is considerable, her advice sound and timely, and her skill and sensitivity in matching Rachel’s personal and academic profile with appropriate US educational institutions most impressive. Those parents looking for post-secondary guidance that entails a US component will find Ms. Malek a valuable resource. We recommend her without hesitation or qualification.
